The Girls’ Guide to Wimberley
Wimberley is the perfect place for a fun girls’ getaway! It’s serene landscape, abundant shopping on the square (and monthly market days), wineries, restaurants, and art galleries ensure there is no shortage of fun to be had! There are so many things to do in Wimberley – but consider this your “Go-To Guide” for planning a fun and restorative weekend with the girls!
When you first get into town, grab a meal or a drink at I’noz Brew and Chew. They have a great deck with a beautiful view that overlooks Cypress Creek, and it’s a perfect place to get acquainted with Wimberley and plan out your itinerary. They are open for lunch and dinner, and often have live music on weekends.
After you’ve relaxed and gotten a feel for the tranquility here, take a stroll around the square. Wimberley is home to so many unique stores. Be sure to visit Annie James clothing boutique and Shop the Treehouse for fun home accessories. Creative types will love Sassy Scrappers – an arts and crafts paradise, carrying a large selection of crafting and scrapbooking supplies and fun gifts (for your dog!). If shopping is your thing, you can spend the entire day right here in downtown Wimberley.
What girls’ weekend would be complete without sitting under our beautiful live oaks and sipping wine? Stop by Wimberley Valley Winery to spend an idyllic afternoon relaxing on their beautiful deck. If you want to try to catch a sunset, check out Driftwood Estate Winery. They occasionally stay open late for sunset viewing, but it’s best to call ahead as their hours do vary. Bella Vista Ranch offers both infused olive oil AND wine tasting! You’ll want to take some home to give as gifts.
Love wineries? Be sure to check out this post Texas Hill Country Wineries Near Wimberley!
Wimberley is also home to several art galleries, the Central Texas Bonsai Exhibit and Jade Gardens, and two wonderful glass art places – Silo Glass and Wimberley Glassworks. Wimberley Glassworks offers live demonstrations of their glass blowing, check their website for their schedule.
Live theater performances can be found year-round at The EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens and The Wimberley Players, and The Corral offers movies under the stars during the weekends in the summer. This is a fun experience as it is the only walk-in theater in the country!
Adventure seekers will love Wimberley Zip Line. Blue Hole Park is an excellent place to walk, run, hike, or just picnic. In the summer, the park is open to swimming. Grab a raft from ACE and lounge in the water. You won’t regret it as you linger under the canopy of century old cypress trees!
Relaxing on your girl’s trip is a must and luckily Wimberley is home to several spas, massage therapists, and a reiki practitioner. The Med Spa is perfect for a facial, or better yet, the owner, Yvette, will come to your group for a Facial or BOTOX Party! If you love Spas, check out the Wimberley Day Spa at Blair House Inn for full service massages. For yoga lovers, there are daily yoga classes at the Sanctuary (previously an old church), by Blue Hole Park. Check their website for a schedule.
There are also lots of great restaurants to choose from – Linda Fine Foods and Kate’s Place offer a nice casual meal. Or, try a margarita flight at The Hays City Store located a few miles outside of town. For a dinner you won’t soon forget, check out the Leaning Pear’s tree house or outside deck, or consider Trattoria Lisina in neighboring Driftwood.
When you need that caffeine fix, Sips on the Square has you covered! Great breakfast places include The Wimberley Cafe, Mima’s, The Sugar Shack, or San Angel on River Road (I like their build your own breakfast tacos with lots of ingredients to choose from!).
So much to do, so little time! Wimberley is a tranquil and magical place that allows you to do as little or as much as you desire. There is no city traffic here, just deer and the soothing sounds of nature. Enjoy your stay as you recharge and renew in our little bit of heaven!
